Social Distancing Diaries: March 21

It’s the first Saturday since I started working from home. So far, it hasn’t been too much of an adjustment; I tended to hide in my cubicle in the office, though occasionally I would venture out to the kitchen or to the pod where a few of my colleagues would station. It’s not particularly lonely either, though for the time being, I’m choosing to step back my social media usage. As I said before, this blog is where I’m doing my main reaching out, so if people want find out how I’m doing, keep checking this space.

I have a few things that I’ve been doing here besides working and cuddling with Autumn. I made a bunch of food to freeze for the time being so I don’t have to either run to the store or order food in as often (I’m probably going to treat myself for my birthday, but I digress). So far, what I’ve been making has been turning out pretty good. When I get depressed I usually just stick with the easiest to cook, minimal preparation stuff, so I’m taking advantage of being able to focus on chopping vegetables or doing some slightly more complicated recipes.

The library’s closed so I don’t have to return the stack of books I had been worrying about finishing in time before their due date. I also have a huge DVD and music collection at home, so I have plenty on hand to watch and listen to (not to mention what’s available on streaming). This may also be a good time to get back into my SCTV and SNL reviews, since I’ll be better able to throw myself into the projects. I’m one of those people who can fully immerse in a task if they’re sufficiently motivated, but it can be hard just getting started.
